Princess and I both love flowers and working in the garden, which I seem to have inherited from my own mom. My mom told me about a great opportunity for us to start getting our hands in the dirt earlier than usual. R & R Greenhouse and Gardens near Limerick, Saskatchwan offers workshops where you can go and get an early start on your spring gardening! Princess and I signed up for the Plant Your Own Hanging Baskets workshop and went to play in the dirt :)
My husband and I both try to make sure we spend one-on-one time with each of our children. When I take just one of the kids with me, I call it a "date". The kids love having one parent all to themselves once in awhile, and I love being able to focus on just one child at a time sometimes. Our dates are always a special time for both me and whichever child is with me.

Do you have a dolphin lover in your family? We do. Princess LOVES dolphins! We did a unit study to help her learn about dolphins, but we also use her interest to help her keep learning all the time and having fun while we do it :)
In my last post I shared with you some ways my kids want to give to others this Christmas. I also promised that I would share some ideas with you of things you and your children can make to give away for Christmas too. Here are some of the cute crafts that my kids have made that your kids might want to try making too :)
This year an over-riding theme has been coming up over and over again... At Thanksgiving I reviewed The November Planning Pack for Children, which included a list of ways to bless others... I had the opportunity to review the book, Why We Give Gifts at Christmas Time... The Christmas play our children are involved in is called We Three Spies and is about the Christmas Intelligence Kids (CIK) who give gifts in secret at Christmas time... All of this has led to some interesting and heart warming discussions and prayer with my children :) They have such big hearts and are so eager to jump at the chance to help someone! God has taught me so much through the faith and kindness of my children! My goal for Christmas this year is to really focus more on giving to others with my children! Here are 5 ways we have thought of to give to others together.
This is the last post in this series, for the moment :) Princess has finished her first cake decorating course! She wants to continue with the rest of the courses, but Course 2 won't be for a couple of months, so we get a break for awhile.
This is the third post in my series about my 8 year old daughter's cake decorating course. (You can find the first two posts on my Pinterest board, Cake Decorating.) Princess is taking a cake decorating course on building buttercream skills at Bulk Barn. In her first class she baked and decorated cookies. In the second class she learned how to put filling in and decorate a cake. Her third class was focused on decorating cupcakes.
As crazy as it sounds, our family likes to go camping in fall, after harvest is over. This year harvest lasted longer than usual and we went on our fall camping trip in mid-October! I packed the snowsuits, but thankfully we didn't need them, although it did get pretty cold!
Today I am over at Hip Homeschool Moms, sharing about Autumn on the Farm. Make sure you check it out at http://www.hiphomeschoolmoms.com/2013/10/autumn-fun-on-the-farm/.
Thanks! Don't forget that I will be taking a break for a few days, but I will be back soon! Happy Thanksgiving from Canada! One of Munchkin’s best sellers at the kid's craft sales has been her plantable greeting cards. I found the idea on Pinterest and decided it was not only a fun craft and gift idea, but I could use it to make dot-to-dot connections with some homeschool science lessons too.
Disclaimer: The opinions in this post are completely my own and I am not being compensated for them in any way. My Crafty Kids series to tell you about my oldest daughter's newest creative endeavor. This one is not a craft. This time it's cake decorating!
